Tribes Ascend Beta

It's been a while since I played a decently fast FPS that wasn't just a meat grinder or complete mayhem(Modern Warfare 2 and TF2 respectively) not that that's necessarily bad... just a change of pace.

In Tribes Ascend you have to learn to surf, or as they call it in the game, ski.
Press space when going downhill to reduce the friction and go faster. hold right click to jetpack when going uphill. If you don't master this you become a sitting duck and will get wrecked all day long. However if you learn to master this you will be on your way to wrecking the sitting ducks.

Another thing about Tribes that's a little different is the fact it is not a hit-scan FPS. Every bullet is a projectile and you MUST lead your shots or you will not connect. To counter this I stopped focusing on bullet weapons and start using the thumper sticky grenade launcher. Just hit the ground a little ahead of where the target is running and you'll do some decent damage. Or, you know, hit them head on with a shell and one-hit kill them.

Overall I this game STRICTLY BASED ON GAMEPLAY is quite fun and I enjoy it, just wish more people played.

The only downside I'd point out is there is part pay-to-win aspect, you can unlock everything by either working hard and getting XP or by paying for in-game gold to get perks. There are some perks that are a TON of XP to unlock, but only a small amount of gold, so some people will have an advantage. However, you can't buy skill that's for sure. It definitely will take a little time to unlock everything but right out of the bag it's not hard to get right into it, I had over 1:1 K:D from the get-go so get out there and SHAZBOT SHAZBOT SHAZBOT.

To get a free beta key, simply go to the Tribes Ascend facebook page, hit like and follow the instructions to get your key and get to the download page. You will have to allow the app also.

Sorry for the lack of posts this month, busy with life and Facebook games... damn you Restaurant City.

Sounds pretty good, but you know everyone will just die on MW2 instead.
